Coxswains - Master on commercial ships

Course Objectives
This course is your sailing licence for safely operate a vessel up to 12 metre’s in length for trading and 15m in length for fishing. A Certificate of Competency as Coxswain entitles you to act as Master on commercial ships less than 12 metres in length and fishing ships less than 15 metres in length within certain operational areas. It is a dual certificate, deck and engineering.

Career Possibilities
This course is for those with experience on board commercial vessels as a general-purpose hand (or deckhand) as well as those people that already have significant recreational boating experience and wish to command a commercial vessel of less than 12 metres in length.

Main campus located in tropical, cosmopolitan Cairns. Close to the Great Barrier Reef and lush rainforests.

The course is delivered full-time over a total 3 week period.
